About

You could say it all started when my mother, by redeeming 7 books of Plaid Stamps, placed a Kodak Brownie Starmite camera in my then 8 year-old hands. After photographing my best friend, and then my dog, I made some photographs of the dentist who lived next-door holding his relatively newborn baby. The photographs of the guy and his kid were the hit of the neighborhood. He even borrowed the negative and had one blown up and framed. Somewhere along the line, listening to everyone fuss over the portrait, I decided that would be what I'd spend my life doing: making portraits with a camera.

Hard to believe, but that's what I've been doing. All my life. Since I was eight.

Several decades, thousands of magazine assignments, and 25 years of Weddings and Bar Mitzvahs later, I can still be found shooting a magazine assignment or two every week. But here's the thing: while I've photographed the famous and the infamous, from Bono to Mike Tyson, my work having been in many major American news-magazines, my favorite subjects continue to be ordinary people quietly living extraordinary lives.

Whether in the boardroom or the backyard, every session is a chance to capture those extraordinary moments.
